Shabbos Observations
grass
lush with green,
still warm from
yesterday’s sunny afternoon
summoning my bare feet to dance
birds
chorus in song, along
to the percussion of wind chimes
morning glories
have awoken, and giggle
at the busy bees and wasps buzzing by
on their daily commute
tree tops
tip their hats
to greet one another with
kibbitzing whispers
painted ladies
present their dance cards to a group of purple cone flowers,
who accept
clematis and cardinal vine
chase each other up the fence
the peonies butlers
balance trays of champagne flutes
while virgin finch and sparrow blush and flutter with one another
at the seed bar
sunbeams
dance a lazy rumba of shadows
in the arms
of the garden wind
